a fall break to remember

i had the most lovely fall break with the most lovely girls in my life (minus two and plus jake)

we didn't have much time or money to head somewhere far away but we decided even just a weekend getaway to park city during the most beautiful time of the year in utah sounded great.

so we found ourselves a good deal (via groupon) for a suite in park city resort for the first two nights.

we then headed up to the cabin (do you like how it's always referred to as "the cabin" haha) for the last night of our little getaway.

we spent the afternoon before we left exploring our surroundings. it was so beautiful up there & i'm glad we got to really soak up some of the beauty of fall.

we all had to say goodbye to our spanish families tonight. it was really bitter-sweet.

we've had so many lovely experiences during these three months in mallorca & met so many wonderful people. 

now we're off to travel for the next three weeks... not sure if i'll be able to blog much during our travels but i will definitely catch up once i get home if not.

don't make fun of my drawing abilities. because i don't have any. but i have had plenty of opportunities to draw after spending the summer with two little girls. 

we took this picture the day before i left to spain on the polaroid camera dustin gave me for my brithday (i'm in love with it). 

being away from home always gives you time to refocus on exactly what is important in life.

& that is love. love of family & friends.

because its really all that matters & with those things life will always be happy.

yes, there will always be hard times. but with those people in your life who love & support you most, you'll always get through it.

can't wait to see you familia. in just three & a half weeks!

my spanish familia

i have a lovely spanish family here in spain. the mom, marta, speaks good english because she did her senior year of high school in the u.s. however the father doesn't speak any so its fun to practice my spanish with him. the little girls, alicia (eight years old) and marta (five years old) are so cute and already love me. they hardly want to leave my side. i spend the mornings with them and we practice some english, they know some vocabulary already from their school here and love trying to speak it.

we go to the pool at their grandparent's home every day because they live just two doors down. savannah and the their two cousins meet us there because they live right next door as well.

it is nice having savannah so close. it takes me about 30 seconds to walk over to her house & into her room. their homes are so nice & we are happy to have such good families to stay with here in spain!

i have always loved spending time with you. & these pictures are just glimpses into the endless wonderful memories i have with you.

when i was little and people would tell me "you look just like your dad!" i would think... so i look like a boy? thanks. but i don't mind hearing it anymore :)

thank you for always being there for me these past twenty-one years.

i can't imagine my life without you. you have always been my strength & you truly are my hero.

Tyler has graduated high school! 

and lets not forget to mention that he graduated with a 4.0!

yep, not even just one A- in his entire high school career. i don't know how he did it but i do know he is amazing. 

now he is onto bigger & better things in the fall where he will be living in the dorms at the University of Utah. I couldn't be more proud of him!
