holiday {number two}

it was holiday again for my spanish family (one in july, one in august... these lucky europeans & their huge holidays)... so we were off to the beach house in la rapita.
the family & i spent one morning snorkeling by the rocks along the coastline

since savannah's family was also on holiday in a beach town close by we met up with them a few times. one day we road in a small raft boat to a private beach (the one alicia's family goes to every day) and it was so much fun. the kids loved the boat ride.

another sunday adventure.

alicia, savannah, & i biked to the lighthouse in Colonia San Jordi & jumped off a ledge into a cove.
nothing like a good adrenaline rush. loved it.

beach journey.

i was at the beach house this weekend in La Rapita & since alicia's family lives only fifteen minutes away she came and slept over saturday night. savannah's family arrived on sunday morning to another beach town which is also fifteen minutes away (by car, mind you) where they will be spending the next two weeks for holiday.
so alicia, savannah, & i being desperate to spend the day together decided to journey along the coast from our beach towns until we ran into each other.

 the color of the sea at these beaches is breathtaking.
 obviously mine & alicia's walk was much more enjoyable since we were together & would stop at prime photo ops like this one.
 we came across ruins of old homes that must have been there a long time ago. it was fun to explore.
& finally about forty-five minutes later of walking along the shore we saw savannah's familiar face.

*side note that i just have to add: it just so happens that the beach in the middle of our two beach towns is basically a nude beach. we suddenly started noticing while walking along the shore that almost nobody was wearing a swimsuit. lets just say i have now seen naked bodies in all different sizes, shapes, colors, etc. haha oh dear.....
 we then bought sandwiches from a beach bar (mine consisted of french bread, olive oil, & cheese of course... the usual here in spain) and we took it to eat on the rocks.
it was a lovely (& tiring) sunday in spain.

chocolate goodness.

as much as alicia & martita love doing their english work.....

they would definitely prefer to make some brownies. so we did just that.
savannah, juan, & alis came over to join us.

 we wanted to make a yummy, american treat but since their baking ingredients are a little different here we had to do something simple. this is the easiest brownie recipe ever.
one cup flour
one cup sugar
one cup cocoa powder
one cup butter (melted)
three eggs
mix & bake!
and to think i always had to go out & by a pre-packaged brownie mix at the store...

we then enjoyed the brownies during pool-time at the grandma's house.
they were buenisimo!

i caught the hunger.

@kate_mi IT’S HAPPENING…IT’S HAPPENING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
yes, i finally read all of the hunger games series while here in spain. & now i can't wait for the movie. found this photo today... made me so excited. & even though movies are usually never as good, its still so fun to see your characters come to life. you can bet march 23, 2012 is marked on my calendar.

p.s. for those of you who read the books... what do you think of katniss & peeta? i think who they chose for katniss is perfect & although i like who they chose for peeta, he is supposed to have blonde hair & blue eyes! yes, i like all the details followed! ;)

oh yeah & lets not forget about Gale... I think he is perfect as well!

hasta luego, mi amiga.

sadly, we had to say goodbye to carolyn on monday as she was headed to madrid for the rest of her time here in spain. but we did some fun "lasts" with her before she left.

//we went to a beautiful new beach

//we explored a the placa de espana shopping area

//went out for dinner (this is a big deal since we usually tried to save our money & not eat out)

//four cheese tortellini.. yum

//p.s. can i just tell you how much i love lemon in my coke? they always add one here & pretty sure i'm not going to be able to drink it without when i get home. i need to show my dad the beauty of some lemon in his daily cokes ;)

//we stopped at the "mercadona" (our favorite market) & bought a quart of ice cream since its a lot cheaper & more filling, of course. this time we got tiramisu... it was delish.

//we laughed her last night away on the beach (i'll miss that face carolyn :)

dear carolina,
i am already missing you here in mallorca. its weird not talking to you every day & deciding what beach to go to or where to meet in the city. and now savannah & i are going to get extra fat because we will have to eat the quart of ice cream with just the two of us & when we buy that pack of those three delicious pastries... we will have to split the 3rd one (not saying i mind... but i think my tummy does). anyway.. things won't be the same without you. but i'm so very glad you were able to come make memories with us. i will be seeing you october eleventh. you better be there with a welcome home sign/flowers/balloons. you know, the whole shabang (just kidding about the flowers/balloons...but you bet i expect a sign! ;)
te echo de menos!
love, linsi (the spanish version of my name)
